Former NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said this evening that Vladimir Putin is "eating Trump" and has no intention of signing any peace agreement.
According to foreign media, she says she thinks Trump "is getting this" and adds that he may now follow through on previous threats to impose more sanctions on Moscow.
Meanwhile, Europe "can be an effective participant" in any negotiations thanks to its relevance to existing sanctions.
She goes on to say that there is "zero" chance of the US leaving NATO, although Trump will allow other members to take the lead.
Regarding a security force in Ukraine, previously mentioned by French President Emmanuel Macron, she says there are "many things to be determined," writes A2 CNN.
"It will only be possible to have an effective security force if the US is willing to support it," she adds.
"There are still many questions to be answered, but I think it can work. Security forces have played a good role in the past during a peace process, but we are still not enough if peace is to take shape at all," she concluded. (A2 Televizion)
