The wife of the French president, Brigitte Macron, has expressed her doubts about the possibility of Emmanuel Macron leaving politics after leaving the presidency, in an interview broadcast today by RTL.
"Can he give up politics? And which politicians do you know who left politics? For me, in the minds of those I know, there is no end," answered Macron's wife, when asked about the political future of the head of state after 2027.
However, she emphasized that Macron has not revealed his intentions, adding that she hopes "he stops working somehow" . "He's very busy at the moment. I would like him to stop working for a while, he works all the time," she added in her interview at the launch of an annual charity event.
Brigitte Macron said this week on TF1 that the president sometimes expresses that he feels hurt by what he hears said about him and today she returned to the same issue speaking to RTL to discuss her state of mind.
"I feel like he's very hurt. Can you imagine the level of violence that's going on? I can't even imagine people saying things like that on social media about people they know nothing about, people they don't know . How do they think they can verbally kill such people? I don't understand," added the First Lady of France.
Emmanuel Macron, the youngest president of the Republic, who was elected at the age of 39 in 2017 and then re-elected for 5 years in 2022, cannot run again in 2027 at the end of his second term. However, nothing prevents him from running for another term after 2032. (A2 Televizion)
