Three dead and 4 seriously injured is the preliminary balance of the bus accident that happened in the municipality of Hadsel, in the north of Norway, while some passengers were rescued in a nearby school.
This was announced by the Nordland police in a press release quoted by the Norwegian media Vg, specifying that there were 58 people of eight different nationalities on the bus. The Northern Rescue Center in Norway had previously said there were between 60 and 70 passengers.
According to the police reconstruction of the incident, the bus went off the road, possibly due to icy roads, and ended up in Lake Åsvatnet, near Raftsundet.
The alarm sounded at 14.02. The accident happened along the E10, in Hadsel municipality. Rescue helicopters from Bodø and Tromsø and other vehicles from across the region responded to the scene.
