"Bibi, go away!" Israelis protest return of hostages from Hamas

The United Nations humanitarian agency has raised the alarm over the worsening crisis in the Gaza Strip, where rapidly running out of supplies and shrinking living spaces are worsening the situation for those in the besieged areas. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that over 142,000 people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip in the past week, with numbers expected to rise further as Israeli displacement orders and intensified bombardment continue.

According to the agency, forced displacement orders in Israel now cover about 17 percent of the region.

Meanwhile, Israel has been gripped by a wave of protests against the war and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Protest organizers said the government "has abandoned hostages, put Israel's security at risk, and passed aggressive and extreme laws. The government has declared war on the Israeli people," a statement said.

One of the protesters, educator Chinaya Madar, makes it clear: she wants the hostages returned and Benjamin Netanyahu gone.

"I want my country back to the way it was. I lost my country a year and a half ago. I want it back. My country used to be a democracy but now, I don't know what to say. We have a lot of hostages in Gaza, we have a war in Gaza, my grandchildren are in Gaza, even the soldiers, I want them all home," said Chinaya Madar, an educator from Israel.

In recent days, the country has also seen repeated protests by government opponents. They are also demanding an agreement with Hamas that would include the release of hostages still being held by the Islamists in the Gaza Strip. (A2 Televizion)
