Biden is expected to discuss the Israel-Hamas conflict in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping this week. The news was announced by the senior adviser of the American president on Monday night.
The conflict will be among several topics on the agenda for the meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, according to national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
The invasion of Ukraine by Russia will also be discussed at the summit.
"Overall, we look forward to a productive meeting," Sullivan said.
"President Biden has a long history with President Xi, their conversations are direct, they are straightforward, and President Biden believes there is no substitute for leader-to-leader, face-to-face diplomacy to manage this complex relationship between The United States and China.”
We recall that for several years, US officials have emphasized that China is the main competitor of the US, considered "America's most important geopolitical challenge" in last year's National Security Strategy.
