Britain has suspended trade talks with Israel and summoned the Middle Eastern state's ambassador to account over its 'cruel' aid blockade of Gaza.
According to foreign media, addressing MPs, David Lammy said that the United Kingdom is suspending negotiations with the Israeli government for a new free trade agreement and is summoning the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom, Tzipi Hotovely, to the Foreign Ministry.
He says that Minister Hamish Falconer will tell Hotovely that "the 11-week blockade of aid to Gaza has been cruel and unreasonable."
"The world is judging. History will judge them," he adds, writes A2 CNN.
"Blocking aid, expanding borders, ignoring the concerns of your friends and partners. This is unreasonable and must stop," he further said.
'We will take further action,' Lammy continued.
Lammy continues: "I now say to the people of Israel that we want a strong friendship with you, based on shared values and with thriving ties between our peoples and societies."
"We are steadfast in our commitment to your security and future, to confronting the very real threat from Iran, the scourge of terrorism, and the evils of anti-Semitism. But the unfolding war in Gaza is damaging our relationship with your government," he continued.
"And as the Prime Minister has said, if Israel continues this military offensive, as it has threatened, without ensuring the unhindered delivery of aid, we will take further action in response," Lammy concluded. (A2 Televizion)
