Russia has said it has foiled several Ukrainian plots to kill high-ranking officers and their families in Moscow.
According to foreign media, the Federal Security Service, the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB, known as the FSB, said the plan involved bombs disguised as power banks or document files.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has prevented a series of assassination attempts against senior military personnel of the Ministry of Defense," the agency said.
"Four Russian citizens involved in the preparation of these attacks have been arrested," the FSB added, writes A2 CNN.
The claims come just over a week after Ukraine's SBU intelligence service killed Lieutenant General Kryllov, who was the head of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Corps.
Reuters news agency reported that an SBU source confirmed that Ukraine was behind the strike, which was carried out outside Mr. Kryllov's apartment building with a bomb attached to an electric scooter. (A2 Televizion)
