"Trade deficit over $300 billion", Donald Trump attacks EU: We will

After China, Mexico and Canada, Donald Trump is also targeting the European Union. The US president announced that he will impose heavy tariffs on the 27-member bloc, continuing his trade war, reports A2 CNN.

"We will definitely put tariffs on the European Union. I can confirm that, because they have really benefited and we have a deficit of over $300 billion. They don't take our cars. They don't take our agricultural products. They take almost nothing, and we take everything from them - millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and agricultural products," Trump said, A2 CNN reports.

European Union leaders have announced that they will respond quickly if any partner imposes tariffs unilaterally. Meanwhile, Trump also warned the United Kingdom, but took a softer approach, underlining that he believes a trade deal can be reached. The US president has confirmed that starting Tuesday, import tariffs of 25 percent will be applied to goods from Canada and Mexico, as well as 10 percent to goods from China, according to A2 CNN.

"Canada has been very abusive to the United States for many years. They don't let our banks in. Canada has been very tough on oil, on energy. They don't let our agricultural products in. They don't let a lot of things in, and we let everything in. It's been a one-way street. We subsidize Canada with about $200 billion a year, and for what? What do we get out of it? We get nothing out of it. As for Mexico, we've had very good talks with them, and this is retaliation. This is retaliation to a certain extent. Millions of people came to our country through Mexico and Canada, and we're not going to let that happen," he said, according to A2 CNN.

Canada responded to the tariffs in kind, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying it would impose a 25 percent trade tax on American goods. Mexico is also building a response plan.   (A2 Televizion)
