The homes of several celebrities have been affected by the Palisades fire, which broke out in the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood in the Santa Monica Mountains.
According to foreign media, actor Eugene Levy, most recently known for his role in "Schitt's Creek," told the Los Angeles Times that he was trapped during the evacuation. "The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon," he said. "I couldn't see any flames, but the smoke was very dark."
Actor James Woods shared video of the fire that engulfed a house two doors down from him, later saying he had been evacuated from the area. "I don't know at this point if our house is still standing, but unfortunately the houses on our little street are not," he wrote on 'X', adding that his family had renovated a house after the pandemic and had just had finished last month.
Actor Steve Guttenberg helped fire crews try to move several abandoned cars off the road, telling CNN he had never seen anything like it in his life. By the time he was evacuated there in the afternoon, charred trees were falling on Sunset Boulevard and so were iconic buildings, such as the Pierson Playhouse, part of the Palisades Theater.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said his mother was forced to leave the Palisades and that the family home of team member Everett Dayton was lost. "Everything I'm seeing and reading is just terrible," he said in a press conference broadcast on 'X'.
Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick said his family, his wife's family along with her twin sister's family have all been evacuated from the Palisades fire. "I just want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now," Redick said before the Lakers' game against the Mavericks in Dallas, the Associated Press reported. "This is where I live."
The seaside community has long been popular with celebrities, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. It is also home to the famous Getty Villa, a museum that houses a variety of relics from Greece and Rome, which said Tuesday evening that it was safe from the fire. (A2 Televizion)
