A marble statue thought to be more than 2,000 years old has been found abandoned in a garbage bag in the Greek city of Thessaloniki.
A resident discovered the headless, 80-centimeter statue next to a trash can in Neoi Epivates, on the outskirts of Greece's second city.
The man handed it over to local authorities, who contacted archaeologists to give an opinion on its value.
Experts, after an initial assessment, have confirmed that the work dates back to the Hellenistic era, a period around 320 and 30 BC, characterized by a flourishing of art and culture following the conquests of Alexander the Great. (A2 Televizion)
