Two people have been killed and two others injured in a knife attack in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. According to German media, the attack took place in the Schöntal park in the city center, where the perpetrator attacked kindergarten children who had gone out for a walk with their teachers.
The victims are a 41-year-old man and a 2-year-old child, while the two injured have been transported to hospital for treatment in serious condition. German police said they had arrested the suspected perpetrator of the attack in the park in Aschaffenburg. It is a 28-year-old Afghan national, who is currently in custody.

The reasons for the attack are still unclear. Train movement at the city's southern station was interrupted because the suspect tried to escape across the tracks.
A second person initially detained by police was found to be unrelated to the attack and is now believed to be a witness. Following the attack, the park was closed to the public as it was deemed unsafe and was kept under surveillance by police. (A2 Televizion)
