Interpol arrests 20 people in Europe in operation against child sexual abuse

The international police organization (Interpol) has said that 20 people have been arrested in Europe and the Americas, following an operation carried out in cooperation with 12 countries, to combat child sexual abuse.

The operation, led by Spanish police, began late last year after police officers identified online message groups in which images of child sexual abuse were circulating.

Spanish authorities have arrested seven suspects, including a health worker and a teacher, Interpol said.

The health worker is suspected of paying minors in Eastern Europe for explicit images, while the teacher has been charged with possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material on several online platforms.

Authorities in Latin America have arrested 10 suspects in seven countries, including three in El Salvador and a teacher in Panama. Other suspects have been arrested in other parts of Europe and the United States.

Interpol has said that 68 other suspects have been identified so far, and that investigations are ongoing./ REL (A2 Televizion)
