Eleonora Boi, the wife of Italian basketball player Danilo Gallinari, who currently plays for Vaqueros de Bayamón, was bitten by a shark in Puerto Rico. International media reports that the former sports journalist for Mediaset was injured in the thigh on the beach of Isla Verde.
Boi, currently pregnant and in stable condition, has been transferred to the University of Puerto Rico hospital in Carolina.
Rubén Moyeno, the commissioner of the municipal police of Carolina, explained that his officers responded immediately to the scene upon receiving the report and provided first aid to the woman. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment explained that the "tiburon gata" sharks are currently mating and therefore live in shallow waters.
