Russia has begun "major" naval exercises in the Baltic Sea, foreign reports say.
The Russian news agency, Interfax, reports that the exercise began today, but it is not known how long it will last.
It is also reported that the exercises involve 20 warships, 3,000 troops and air support, writes A2 CNN.
This exercise comes at a time when the NATO military exercise 'Defender 25' is being held in Kosovo, where troops from various alliance countries are participating.
It is not yet known whether the Russian exercise is being conducted intentionally on the same date as the NATO exercise, or whether it was simply a coincidence. (A2 Televizion)
