British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has insisted that the United Kingdom is "not choosing" between the US and the European Union.
According to foreign media, his statement comes after President Donald Trump threatened to hit the EU with tariffs "very soon" after implementing them on China and after postponing the decision on additional taxes on Mexico and Canada.
But when Starmer was asked how he would balance creating closer ties with the EU on the one hand, but also with the US and Trump on the other, he said that both relationships were important.
"This is not new to me," he said during a press conference yesterday in Brussels, writes A2 CNN.
"I think that's how it's always been and will be for many, many years to come," Starmer added.
Earlier in the day, a Downing Street spokesman insisted that Starmer trusted Trump and pointed to "a set of really constructive early conversations" between the two leaders. (A2 Televizion)
