British counter-terrorism police have arrested five people, four of whom are Iranian nationals, on suspicion of terrorism-related offences in connection with a plot to attack a specific facility.
The arrests were made on Saturday in the towns of Swindon, West London, Stockport, Rochdale and Manchester.
Authorities have not provided details on the plot, citing operational and investigative reasons.
The Iranian embassy in London has not yet responded to a request for comment.
"This is an early stage investigation and we are examining a number of leads to determine a possible motivation, as well as identifying whether there is any further risk to the public in relation to this matter," said Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Unit.
