North Korea has the third largest Bitcoin reserve in the world, most of it

North Korea owns more bitcoin than any other country in the world, with the exception of the United States and the United Kingdom.

This is reported by "Binance News", the news platform of global cryptocurrency exchange giant Binance, according to which Pyongyang has accumulated assets of 13,562 bitcoins, worth $1.14 billion, through cryptocurrency thefts carried out by its hackers.

According to a recently published report, hackers from North Korea have stolen more than $400 million in digital assets during 7 cyberattacks in 2021 alone.

The hackers are suspected of using various techniques to hack into "hot" wallets with digital money to then transfer them to North Korea.

The Lazarus Group became known about a decade ago when it was accused of retaliating against the American production company Sony Pictures Entertainment, in retaliation for the release of the film "The Interview," which mocked North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

It is also believed to be behind the theft of $620 million worth of Ethereum coins from Ronin Network in 2022, at the time considered the largest cryptocurrency theft in history.

In December, the United States and Japan accused him of stealing more than $300 million in cryptocurrency from Japanese exchange DMM Bitcoin.
