US releases Kennedy assassination documents

The US National Archives has released the latest set of files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963, a case that still fuels conspiracy theories more than 60 years after his death.

The move follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in January ordering the unredacted release of remaining files related to the assassinations of Kennedy, his brother, former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

This was one of Trump's pre-election promises, which he implemented by signing an executive order as part of a "storm" of executive orders in the first days of his term.

Trump had said he intended to declassify during his first term, but did not do so because he was asked to do so as a favor by then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, whose rights he stripped today. (A2 Televizion)
