French Prime Minister François Bayrou says it is a "terribly dangerous" idea to think that China could replace the US as a trading partner.
According to foreign media, he also urges European Union members to stand together in the face of uncertainty from Trump's tariffs.
"When the president of the United States raises tariffs, it's an earthquake, but when the president of the United States 48 hours later lifts the tariffs, it's another earthquake," he says, writes A2 CNN.
This is the latest comment from France on the tariffs, with French President Emmanuel Macron earlier saying that their partial suspension for 90 days was an "open door" for negotiations with America.
Recall that Trump imposed tariffs on many countries around the world about 10 days ago, but suspended them for 90 days afterwards, with the exception of China, on which he imposed even higher tariffs. (A2 Televizion)
