After midnight yesterday, Israel launched an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities and against senior military leaders.
According to foreign media, explosions were reported in Iran's capital, Tehran, at around 03:30 local time (01:00 BST).
Iranian state television said residential areas in Tehran were hit, while explosions were also heard northeast of the capital, writes A2 CNN.
Hours after the initial attacks, an explosion was reported at the Natanz nuclear facility, which is located about 225 km south of the capital, according to Iranian state media.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the global nuclear watchdog, later confirmed that the Natanz facility had been hit, adding that Iranian authorities informed it that there had been no increase in radiation levels.
The Israeli military said it had struck "dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in various areas of Iran." (A2 Televizion)
