Los Angeles County authorities have issued evacuation orders in an area about 60 kilometers north of the city, due to a new fire that broke out near Castaic Lake.
The flames are burning the hills around the pond and have spread rapidly, covering an area of over 20 square kilometers in two and a half hours.
Almost 20,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes.
The affected area is not heavily populated, but Santa Ana winds are pushing the flames southward, into an area that is now subject to evacuation and appears to be covered in a thick cloud of smoke. (A2 Televizion)
