Jordan's King Abdullah said he is against any plan by Israel to occupy parts of Gaza or to create security zones within its territory.
During a meeting with top political officials at the royal palace, the monarch told them there could be no military or security solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
He added that the main cause of the crisis in the Middle East is Israel's denial of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
"The solution starts from there and any other path is bound to fail and lead to a cycle of violence and destruction" said the king.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would take over security in Gaza indefinitely when the war ends. (A2 Televizion)
