Russia is trying to downplay the catastrophic consequences of the attack in the Sumy region of Ukraine, where 34 civilians were killed. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the Russian military only strikes military targets.
Meanwhile, the defense ministry confirms that the missile attack in Sumy targeted a meeting of several Ukrainian officials and that 60 servicemen were killed there.
Moscow accuses Kiev of using the civilian population as human shields by organizing events in cities with high populations.
The Kremlin accuses European countries of seeking tensions and a major war between Russia and Ukraine. Spokesman Peskov claims that the new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, by sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine will further aggravate the conflict.
Even the deputy director of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has called the German leader "a Nazi."
"Merc has fallen into memories of his father who served in Hitler's army," the former Russian president stressed. (A2 Televizion)
