Hamas-run Health Ministry: Israeli forces killed 67 Palestinians seeking aid in

The Israeli army has killed at least 67 people waiting for UN aid trucks in northern Gaza, the territory's Hamas-run Health Ministry said.

According to foreign media, the UN World Food Program said its convoy of 25 trucks "encountered massive crowds of starving civilians, who were shot at," shortly after crossing from Israel at checkpoints.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they had “fired warning shots” to repel “an immediate threat.” They disputed the reported death toll, A2 CNN reports.

On Saturday, the ministry warned that extreme hunger was increasing in Gaza and an increasing number of people were arriving at hospital facilities "in a state of extreme exhaustion and fatigue."

"We warn that hundreds of people whose bodies have decomposed are at risk of immediate death due to starvation," the Health Ministry said. The UN has also said civilians in Gaza are starving and has called for an urgent influx of essential goods.

On Sunday, the ministry said it had recorded 18 deaths "due to hunger" over the past 24 hours, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
