President Donald Trump has said he will "go after the people" who tried to interfere in the 2016 election, claiming that Russia tried to influence the outcome.
"Regardless of whether it's right or wrong, it's time to pursue the issue," Trump said in the Oval Office, before meeting with the President of the Philippines, A2 writes.
Trump insisted that Barack Obama was guilty of what he called his role in weaponizing intelligence, calling the former Democratic president the "ringleader" of the conspiracy.
"Obama has been caught straight," Trump said, adding that his actions constituted "treason."
"This is like proof that Obama was an insurgent, that Obama led, was trying to lead a coup with Hillary Clinton. There were other people, but Obama led it," the US President said.
Last week, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified and released new intelligence documents that she claimed were evidence of a "conspiracy" by senior Obama administration officials to create the idea that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election.
