Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is on the verge of winning the war with Iran. In a statement to the media, he also reported that the Israeli military has full control over the skies of Tehran.
"We are on the path to victory. We are in control of the skies over Tehran," Netanyahu said. "We are on the path to achieving two main objectives, eliminating the nuclear threat and the missile threat. We are telling the citizens of Tehran to evacuate and we are taking action," he added, according to A2 CNN.
Israel-Iran war, what happened today?
· Israeli officials say eight people have been killed overnight in the latest Iranian attacks, as the conflict between the two regional rivals enters its fourth day. The total death toll since Friday has reached 24, according to the Israeli prime minister's office and media reports.
· Iran, meanwhile, says more than 200 people have been killed there since the conflict began on Friday. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has challenged Israel's description of its strikes as "precise", saying many women and children have been killed in residential areas.
· Iranian media reports that a hospital in the west of the country was "severely damaged" after an Israeli attack on Monday, according to the AFP agency, which cited the Iranian Tasnim agency.
· Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz was forced to tone down his warning that Tehran residents would “pay the price” for Iranian attacks on Israeli civilians. He later declared that Israel “has no intention of physically harming the residents of Tehran.”
· Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Monday that Iran has no intention of developing nuclear weapons but will continue to pursue the right to energy and nuclear research, according to Reuters.
· An Israeli military spokesman said Israel had "achieved air superiority over Iran," according to AFP. The Israeli military also said it had destroyed "a third" of Iran's surface-to-surface missile launchers, AFP reported.
· The head of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, gave an update on Monday on the status of Iranian nuclear facilities following the Israeli strikes and said there were no signs of further damage to the enrichment facilities at Natanz or Fordow.
· Tensions between Iran and Israel are escalating as G7 leaders are expected to meet on Monday in the Canadian mountains, where they will focus on demanding that Trump explain his belief that Israel and Iran will soon reach a peace agreement.
