Heathrow has returned to full service after a power outage at a substation outside the airport. An airport spokesman confirmed that operations have resumed and flights have resumed.
In a statement to the media, the spokesman said: "We can confirm that Heathrow is open and fully operational today. Teams across the airport are doing everything they can to support passengers affected by yesterday's power outage."
To ease the situation and manage the flow of stranded passengers, the airport has added "hundreds" of additional staff to assist travelers. In addition, several additional flights have been added to today's flight schedule to accommodate the approximately 10,000 stranded passengers.
The spokesperson also urged travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport, stressing the importance of staying informed to avoid delays and confusion.
The power outage, which occurred yesterday, caused chaos at the airport, resulting in numerous cancellations and delays. Many passengers were left stranded as airlines tried to reorganize their trips.
With the resumption of operations today, Heathrow aims to restore normality and provide a smooth experience for its passengers. The airport authorities have stressed that they are working closely with airlines to ensure that all passengers reach their destinations as quickly as possible. (A2 Televizion)
