Photographer seriously injured in head collision in Buenos Aires

Dozens injured, including a photographer in very serious condition, and over 150 arrested. This is the preliminary result of the fierce battle that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in the center of Buenos Aires, during a demonstration in support of pensioners and against cuts by the ultra-liberal government of Javier Milei.

The government warned that it would not tolerate unrest or violations of the strict anti-protest protocol and that it would deploy thousands of agents from the three security forces: the police, the gendarmerie and the prefecture.

At the end of the day, the most serious episode involved photographer Pablo Grillo, who was hit in the head by a smoke bomb fired by the police and is currently in hospital in very serious condition.

Images of Grillo suddenly falling to the ground, hit by a bullet as he tried to portray the police action, and dramatic photos of the boy with a fractured skull are making the rounds on social media.

An 80-year-old pensioner fell victim to the repression of security forces, fell to the ground after being hit with a baton and was hospitalized with head trauma.

Several videos on social media also prove this moment.

The Ministry of Security has also reported 26 injured officers, including one who was shot in the arm, while no assessment of material damage has yet been made.

By the time they demobilized, the signs of the battle - dozens of burned tanks, a destroyed patrol car, the remains of barricades and thousands of stones on the asphalt - were evident throughout the center of the capital, from Parliament Square, where it all began, to the Casa Rosada to the iconic Plaza de Mayo, where protesters continued to search for the police.
