British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced a four-point plan to work with Ukraine to end the war with Russia.
According to foreign media, announced during a summit of world leaders in London yesterday, Starmer said that the United Kingdom, France and other countries will step up their efforts in a "coalition of the willing."
Speaking at a press conference after the leaders' meeting, Starmer said they had agreed on four points:
1. To keep the flow of military aid to Ukraine and continue to increase economic pressure on Russia
2. Ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and security and Kiev must be at the table for peace talks
3. In the event of a peace agreement, to increase Ukraine's defense capabilities to deter any future invasion
4. To move forward to develop a “coalition of the willing” to defend an agreement in Ukraine and guarantee peace
Starmer did not state which countries had agreed to join the coalition, but said those that had committed would intensify planning with urgency, writes A2 CNN.
He said the UK would back its commitment with "boots on the ground and planes in the air".
Elsewhere at the press conference, Sir Keir announced a new deal which will allow Ukraine to use £1.6 billion from the UK to buy another 5,000 air defence missiles.
The Prime Minister said the move would create jobs in the UK's defence sector and would also be "vital for protecting critical infrastructure and strengthening Ukraine".
When he came to power in the United Kingdom, he announced that he would increase defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027, from the current 2.3%.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves also announced that the UK would give Ukraine an additional £2.26 billion for its war effort, funded by profits made from Russian sovereign assets worth hundreds of billions of dollars. (A2 Televizion)
