Prince William paid a visit to the Army Air Base in Wattisham, Suffolk, where he was introduced as the new Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps (AAC).
While talking to the soldiers about the pace of life and contact with family, the Prince said with a laugh: "Some may not want to see you as often. Family is a mixed bag." The comment was made during a break during a physical training session, where he also added: "It's good to take out your frustrations on a punching bag."
He promised to take steps to improve the soldiers' accommodation issues, saying: "It's probably not been seen for a long time. It's going to be somewhere in a big notebook on a table... if they hear me, that's another matter."
William arrived at the base in a Wildcat helicopter, a core part of the AAC fleet. He received information about the activity of the squadrons, including 664, and technological developments of the new Apache AH-64E helicopters. In an operations tent, he sat next to a control computer and asked about navigation systems and map reading, writes A2 CNN.
Before leaving, he attended “Archer's Breakfast,” where he helped serve food to soldiers and their families, humorously offering, “This is making my mouth water!” He chatted with children Ida and Archie, who were amazed by the encounter, and praised their father's work. (A2 Televizion)
