The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported tonight that 90 Alawite civilians have been "executed" by security forces in the Latakia region, a stronghold of this Muslim minority from which former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad comes.
The Observatory's director told AFP that 90 Alawites, including "at least six women" were executed by the new government's security forces in the regions of Bania, Latakia and Jableh.
According to this non-governmental organization, 45 fighters loyal to Assad and 50 members of the security forces were killed in the clashes.
Based on this latest report, the death toll from the clashes that erupted on Thursday is 185. (A2 Televizion)
