"The Russians are too weak to attack NATO", Orban: We will welcome

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán believes the war in Ukraine will not escalate into a global conflict because Russia is too weak and he does not see a real military threat from Moscow to NATO countries.

"The Russians are too weak for this. They can't even defeat Ukraine, so they can't attack NATO," Orbán said in an interview with French news channel LCI, adding that he was not afraid of the conflict spreading to the world stage, but also adding that Ukraine is losing the war.

Orbán believes that it is first necessary to secure a ceasefire and only then to work on a peace agreement, but not between Ukraine and Russia, but between the United States and Russia, that is, for the real negotiations to end the war to take place between Moscow and Washington.

"Neither Europe nor Ukraine will be able to reach an agreement with Russia. Ukraine is losing the war and Europe is too involved in it. An agreement between the Russians and the Americans is necessary," the Hungarian prime minister said, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

He also reiterated that Ukraine is not ready to join NATO or the EU because, according to him, this is not in the interests of the European Union, and especially Hungary, as reported by RBC.

Orbán stressed that Europe must be strong because Russia only understands the language of force. He added that negotiations should take place with Vladimir Putin and said he would be happy to host him in Budapest.

"If Putin wants to come to Hungary, we will welcome him with open arms," Orbán said.

Speaking about US President Donald Trump, he noted that he is not a 'messiah', but that it is possible to reach an agreement with him, although it will be difficult.

The Hungarian prime minister believes that the war in Ukraine should stop as soon as possible. He supports a ceasefire and peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, as he is convinced that further fighting will only bring more casualties.  (A2 Televizion)
