Russia already has a goal, which is to attack the newest members of the North Atlantic Alliance. The goal has been announced by the former President of Russia and Vladimir Putin's closest man, Dmitry Medvedev. Present at an event with young Russians, Medvedev emphasized that the new members of NATO are the target of Russian nuclear attacks.
"Let's be honest, there is no country that has strengthened its security as a result of NATO membership. Poland, the Baltic states, and recently Finland and Sweden are a clear example of this. The status of non-aligned countries gave them a clear advantage due to their geopolitics and many other factors. They are now in a hostile bloc with us. This means that they will automatically become targets of our forces, including military strikes and even nuclear weapons," said Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.
Medvedev cited the West's "peace through strength" principle as failing. According to Medvedev, retaliation is the only tool that stops the West from threatening Russia.
"They, the Western leaders, carefully learned the instructions of their predecessors. Unfortunately, to reform this approach in the near future is unrealistic. The only thing that stops them is the threat of retaliation. This is our possible response to their self-proclaimed principle of "peace through strength"... What is the answer, you may ask. But the answer is clear. Fear is working, the rest, not," Medvedev added.
Regarding Ukraine, Medvedev added that its fate is predetermined. He stressed that what will remain of Ukraine should not join NATO. The politician stressed that Russia would also not tolerate Ukraine joining any military alliance that supports a unipolar world order. "We must do everything to make this happen," he stressed.
