White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt has reacted to the 100th anniversary of Donald Trump's return to the Oval Office.
According to foreign media, she is also accompanied by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is likely to be asked about Trump's tariffs.
Leavitt began his speech by saying "happy first 100 days," while greeting reporters, writes A2 CNN.
"Today officially marks 100 days of promises made and promises kept by President Trump," she says.
"This has truly been the most historic start to a presidency in American history. After building the largest economy in the world in his first term as president, Donald Trump is in the process of doing it again," she continued, writes A2 CNN.
"The American people trust President Trump."
Leavitt examines a number of Trump's policies that he has implemented in his first 100 days and praises him for his measures on tariffs.
She describes the US president as America's "chief businessman" and says more than 100 countries are already sitting at the negotiating table seeking to offer more favorable terms to America.
While Leavitt is hailing Trump's first 100 days, polls tell a different story, foreign media write.
Earlier, polls from Pew Research came out, showing that Trump has a disapproval rating of 59%, with the same figure reflected in polls from the AP and NORC.
A YouGov poll also showed that 59% rated his second term as weak, writes A2 CNN.
Meanwhile, 25% said tariffs on foreign imports are the biggest mistake he has made in his first 100 days.
Trump's tariffs have created uncertainty in global markets and have pushed the probability of a U.S. recession next year to 45%, up from 25% last month. They have also wiped trillions of dollars from U.S. stock markets. (A2 Televizion)
