A large quantity of cocaine has been seized at the port of Gioia Tauros by the Guardia di Finanza forces of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria.
During a monitoring and control operation in the port area, financiers noticed at night an unusual placement of several containers, which were located in a dark area next to a crane that was not in operation.
The soldiers of the Gioia Tauros Group decided to open all the containers stowed in that suspicious area. One of them was visibly damaged and, after checking, 16 bags containing 385 packets of cocaine, with a total weight of 417 kilograms, were found inside.
The narcotics were seized as evidence in the investigation. The economic loss caused to criminal organizations is estimated to be around 67 million euros. (A2 Televizion)
