A Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jet crashed near the US Naval Air Station Lemoore in central California.
The US Navy announced that the pilot was successfully ejected from the aircraft and is in good health.
"There were no casualties among military personnel," according to a press release from the base.
No details were released about the accident, the cause of which is under investigation.
The manufacturer of the F-35 jet did not respond to a Reuters request for comment after the downing of the US fighter jet. (A2 Televizion)
