The Swiss Defense Ministry said the US is diverting a Swiss order for Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.
According to foreign media, Switzerland ordered five Patriot systems in 2022, but has been informed that the US Department of Defense will "reprioritize the delivery of Patriot systems to support Ukraine."
Delivery of the systems to Switzerland, worth billions of dollars, was scheduled to begin in 2027 and be completed in 2028, writes A2 CNN.
Recall that this week, President Donald Trump announced that an undisclosed number of air defense systems would be sent for use in Ukraine and that the European Union would pay for them.
Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Canada want to be part of the initiative to finance Patriot systems, NATO chief Mark Rutte said on Monday.
Denmark and Sweden have also expressed their willingness to help deliver American weapons to Ukraine through NATO. (A2 Televizion)
