A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar caused the collapse of a 30-story skyscraper under construction in Bangkok, trapping at least 43 workers under the rubble, hospital and police sources in the Thai capital said.
Meanwhile, emergency services say 50 people were inside a building that collapsed in Chatuchak Park, Bangkok.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km at 14:20 local time, 07:50 GMT, the USGS said. It is not yet known if there are any casualties.
AFP sources in Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, said roads were torn apart by the force of the earthquake and many buildings were badly damaged. The tremors were also felt in northern Thailand and as far as the capital Bangkok, where residents took to the streets as buildings shook.
