Apocalyptic situation in Gaza, Israel heavily bombards the south, Netanyahu:

At least 600,000 people have been ordered to evacuate southern Gaza amid fierce fighting there, half of whom were displaced earlier from the northern part of the territory.

The enclave's main southern city, Khan Yunis, came under the most intense shelling since the start of the war, as the army announced it had reached its heart.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees warns that citizens have nowhere else to go, as the shelters have exceeded their capacities.

The United Nations describes an apocalyptic situation, with more than 80 percent of citizens having left their homes, and fighting is preventing aid from being distributed beyond a small corner of the territory.

The WHO says that the situation is worsening hour by hour, while the victims have exceeded 16,200, 7,000 of whom are children.

"The situation is getting worse by the hour. There is intense shelling everywhere, including in the southern areas of Khan Yunis and in Rafah," says Richard Peeperkorn, the WHO representative in Gaza.

With US officials becoming increasingly vocal about the war's human costs, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the only way to win the war was to use overwhelming force against Hamas.

Israel believes Hamas leaders may be hiding in the southern town of Khan Yunis. Thus, the Netanyahu cabinet faced the anger of the family members of the remaining 138 hostages, who during a meeting accused the government of not having a plan for their release.

International media have uncovered evidence of sexual assaults and mutilations of women by Hamas militants in the October 7 attack. (A2 Televizion)
