US President Donald Trump, in a post on Instagram, said that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States of America, as this would result in "much lower taxes and much better military protection for the people of Canada - AND NO TARIFFS."
According to Trump, without American subsidies, Canada no longer exists as a country.
"We pay hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don't need any of what they have. We have unlimited energy, we have to make our own cars, and we have more wood than we could ever need. Without this massive subsidy, Canada would not exist as a viable country. Harsh, but true! Therefore, Canada should become our beloved 51st state. Much lower taxes and much better military protection for the people of Canada – AND NO TARIFFS!", Donald Trump wrote on Instagram.
