Black smoke in the Vatican, we still don't have a Pope

The first session of the Conclave to elect a new Pope took place in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, but without success. After more than three hours of discussions among the 133 voting cardinals, black smoke rose, indicating the lack of an agreement on the election of the new Pope.

The meeting began at around 5:30 PM after the ritual closing of the doors with the call "extra omnes" ("out of everyone").

During the "Pro eligendo Romano Pontifice" mass in St. Peter's, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re said that "the world expects much from the Church for the preservation of fundamental human and spiritual values." He also congratulated Cardinal Parolin "double" during the peace ceremony, writes A2 CNN.

The next round of voting will take place on Thursday, with four votes in total: two in the morning and two in the afternoon. (A2 Televizion)
