Ukraine has said it believes the International Criminal Court will continue its work on Russian war crimes, despite sanctions imposed on the court by Donald Trump.
According to foreign media, Trump authorized economic and travel sanctions, targeting people working on this court's investigations against American citizens or US allies such as Israel.
The International Criminal Court is a permanent court that can prosecute individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and the crime of aggression against the territory of member states or by their nationals against another country.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi told a conference in Kiev: "We are convinced that the ICC will continue to fulfill important functions in the case of Ukraine, in particular by bringing Russian war criminals to justice."
"We know that the relationship between the US and the International Criminal Court has a long history," he said further, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
