Ukraine's SBU security service has said it has discovered 12 agents who were spying for Russia, writes A2 CNN.

According to foreign media, the SBU said they were trying to identify the locations of F-16 fighter jets and air defense systems across Ukraine.

He arrested the alleged mastermind and four key associates on suspicion of treason and sharing information about the location of the Ukrainian military.

The network included several "defectors who left the armed forces units without permission and were recruited by the Russian special service while hiding from justice," the SBU said, writes A2 CNN.

They then passed the information on to the group's leader, who in turn passed it on to a supervisor in Russia's military intelligence.

Ukraine received its long-awaited first delivery of F-16 jets this summer and has deployed them for operations inside the country, including air defense during Russia's large-scale airstrikes. (A2 Televizion)
