Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he has signed the required documents to appoint Denys Shmyhal as the country's new defense minister.
According to foreign media, Shmyhal submitted his resignation as prime minister this week, as part of a government reshuffle.
Announcing the news, Zelenskyy said Shmyhal would be responsible for increasing arms production in Ukraine, to help the country "push the war on Russia."
Yulia Svyrydenko, currently Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, is expected to become Ukraine's new prime minister.
