Zelensky: President Trump's plan must include preventing future Russian

United States President Donald Trump's plan for a quick resolution of the conflict in Ukraine should not only end the war but also ensure that there can be no more Russian aggression, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview broadcast on Sunday.

President Zelensky said that Ukraine did not want to repeat the experience of peace agreements and talks that failed to produce the anticipated results and failed to prevent Moscow's large-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022. And this, he said, means establishing security guarantees.

"A frozen conflict would lead to a repetition of aggression. No one would remain a winner in this scenario. It would be an absolute loss for everyone, both for us and for Mr. Trump," President Zelensky told the ITV channel.

"He should not only end the war, but also make sure that Putin has no chance to declare war on us again. This is the main thing and everyone should accept this. This would be a victory," Mr. Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader reiterated his willingness to hold talks with Russia to end the war provided that Ukraine's Western allies, the United States and the European Union, were engaged.

In his comments to ITV, Mr Zelenskiy again ruled out holding elections in Ukraine before the war ends, as this would endanger the country by lifting key provisions of martial law. President Putin says President Zelenskiy has no legitimacy to lead the talks because he has stayed in office beyond his term. (A2 Televizion)
