President Donald Trump has spoken about the phone conversation he had with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin today.
"My phone conversation today with President Putin of Russia was a very good and productive conversation," he said in a post on his "Truth Social" platform.
"We agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all energy infrastructure, with the understanding that we will work quickly to have a complete ceasefire and ultimately, an end to this very terrible war between Russia and Ukraine," he added.
It appears that the US president will have to force Ukraine to agree to a 30-day moratorium on attacks on energy infrastructure.
Trump also repeated claims that the war would never have started if he had been president when it began in 2022.
"Many elements of a peace agreement were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see the war end," Trump said, writes A2 CNN.
"That process is now in place and in full effect, and we will, hopefully, for the sake of humanity, get the job done!" he added. (A2 Televizion)
