The meeting between former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and his ailing father at the UCCK premises in Pristina lasted three hours.
The former PDK leader was cheered by hundreds of supporters as he left the QKUK premises, accompanied by doctors caring for his father and agents who escorted him from the detention facilities in The Hague.
In the footage provided by A2 CNN, citizens and family members can be heard applauding Thaçi and chanting " KLA, KLA ", or " O Hashim, o hero, you have all of Kosovo here ".
Thaçi arrived in Kosovo today after the Special Court accepted his request to visit his father, whose health condition has deteriorated in the last month.
The Special Court has announced that Thaçi's visit is being carried out under full supervision and for compelling humanitarian reasons.
" The Trial Panel and the Pre-Trial Judge have instructed the Administrative Office to manage a supervised visit to Kosovo for Hashim Thaçi to meet his father. During this supervised visit, the accused remains in the custody of the Specialist Chambers ," the Special Chamber's announcement states. (A2 Televizion)
