Malaysia has decided to lift visas for Kosovo citizens for short trips, Kosovo's President, Vjosa Osmani, announced on Friday.
Kosovo citizens can travel to Malaysia without visas for stays no longer than 30 days, Osmani stressed, also announcing that he will visit the Southeast Asian country next week.
She described this as an important step and revealed that Kosovo will open its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur during her visit.
"This is a clear indication that the ties between our two countries are strengthening every day. I express my sincere gratitude to the Malaysian institutions for this significant decision," she said in X.
Malaysia was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo's independence when Pristina declared it in 2008.

Meanwhile, Kosovo's acting Foreign Minister, Donika Gërvalla, said a few hours later after Osmani's announcement that Malaysia's decision is "concrete evidence of the advancement of our state's international subjectivity and the strengthening of bilateral ties."
"The Republic of Kosovo welcomes this positive step and expresses its gratitude to Malaysian institutions for their continued cooperation and support in serving the citizens and the increasingly strong bilateral ties between our two countries," she said.
Until now, Malaysia has been among the 38 countries in the world where Kosovars are required to obtain a visa upon arrival at the destination.
Now, Malaysia becomes the 53rd country where Kosovars can travel freely without a visa./ REL (A2 Televizion)
