The resignation of Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević was done only so that President Aleksandar Vučić could extend his stay in power and remove responsibility from himself, Serbian journalist Radomir Dimić said in an interview with KosovaPress.

"Now we have protests perhaps even bigger than in the time of Milosevic in Belgrade and Serbia. The resignation of Prime Minister Vučević is not big news for me. Because when it comes to Aleksandar Vučević's politics, this was expected. He did it to calm the students. With Vučević's resignation, he wanted to justify himself, to tell the students of Serbia 'I am not to blame, but my collaborators are'. He has been victimized... Only Aleksandar Vučević, not Vučević, had the power in his hands. This is a way to remove responsibility from himself and tell the protesters 'We have changes'. To extend his mandate and power," says journalist Radomir Dimić.

However, he is convinced that even this government move will not appease the protesters, who have been demonstrating for weeks seeking justice for the tragedy in Novi Sad where 15 people lost their lives.

"The students do not accept and are not satisfied with the resignation of the prime minister. It is known that the prime minister has had a protocol role, compared to Aleksandar Vučić. Here another path has been opened. A path for a government that should be established not only by people from the Aleksandar Vučić regime. But also by other parties... the students do not want formal changes. But, deep changes in society. The system is experiencing great corruption," adds Radomir Dimić.

The Serbian journalist tells KosovaPress that Vučić has neither the strength nor the interest to cause unrest in the region.

"Is it possible to wage war in the region again? To fight with whom, how, for what? He has lost the potential for any extreme action in the region. There is no chance that he can do anything in the region. The students will continue the action, the protest until their demands are met. The only possibility for the situation in Serbia to stabilize is to meet the demands of the students. They have demanded an end to corruption, the standard of students, of the people, profound changes," concludes Radomir Dimic. (A2 Televizion)
