Washington will consider Serbia's idea to organize a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This is confirmed by the American ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill. "Whenever President Vucic has opinions on a topic, people consider those opinions very carefully," the ambassador said. Hill added that his idea "will certainly be considered in Washington."
He declined to comment on the proposal, appearing surprised by the offer. Hill held farewell meetings as he leaves his post as ambassador in Belgrade, confirming that the United States and Serbia have more in common than they divide.
Just a few days ago, Washington announced sanctions against Serbia's state oil industry, due to its ownership by the Russian company, Gazprom. The US has left a deadline for the change of this ownership, while the Belgrade government says it is working to avoid the consequences. (A2 Televizion)
